In the 1990s, after years of working in commercial lab spaces, Bob Carnie took the plunge and opened his own print shop, The Silver Shack. Since then, Bob has worn many different hats within the photographic printmaking communities, running workshops, supporting emerging artists, and running past businesses such as Elevator and Alternative Photo Services. We have decided, to honour the growth of our business, and photography itself, we are changing our name back... WELCOME TO THE SILVER SHACK!
We are remain a brick and mortar facility in the center of the art district of Toronto, Ontario, Canada that provides services for those interested in photography to produce prints and frames for your space, as well as for exhibiting on gallery walls. We are passionate about our community, providing our expertise in photo services, which include photo printing, framing, and archiving negatives, photos and slides, and a space for viewing artworks.
Our Gallery space is a non-representational gallery that displays work of artists that we enjoy and support. The gallery is open to our unique neighbourhood for drop-by viewing of our photo-based exhibitions as they rotate through our 8-shows per year cycle.
