Outdoor Gum over Palladium and Cyanotype 2 day workshop
With very simple tools, learn how to optimize outdoor light for cyanotype/ palladium process like the old masters of the 19th century. Using a hand held UV Meter, we will be able to use a simple kitchen sink setup with a sheet of thick plate glass and digital negatives to create prints with outdoor light.
We will be using a UV light meter provided by Revini Labs to achieve reliable exposure times in outdoor settings https://www.reveni-labs.com Students can provide 2 images each and produce up to 3 final prints. Prints will be black and white or monochromatic duo-toned. This is a 2 day weekend workshop. Students will leave with 3 final 8x10” gum over palladium or gum over cyanotype prints and have the confidence to continue this process on their own. Date: September 26 & 27 (rain date, the following weekend) Course fee: $300 +hst plus material and prep fee... Chemistry/ Film and Paper prep $150 + hst for Palladium OR $135 +hst for Cyanotype. Collab workshop with visiting artist/ printmaker Kim Sinclair!
Join us on October 3 for a unique opportunity to learn the Vandyke printing process together with the Gum Bichromate process. In this workshop you will gain a thorough hands-on introduction of printing Vandyke prints as well as Gum Bichromate. Kim Sinclair joins us from Australia to lead the workshop on the Vandyke process and Anam will bring her knowledge in leading the gum-over process. Participants will provide an image of their own, from that image, create 3 Vandyke prints to explore the varying possibilities of these combined printmaking processes. Participants will learn about paper, registration, using digital negatives, mixing chemistry and coating paper, exposing and developing the image in both the Vandyke and Gum Bichromate process.
